No more windshield wipers

McLaren’s British engineers are working hard on new technological approach to replace the need of windshield  wipers.

Frank Stephenson, the chief designer of the trade confirmed the initiative in interview for the Sunday Times of London..

To achieve this ,the ultrasonic tranducer that converts electrical energy into sound waves of high intensity, is directed to the windshield. The ultrasound waves used in this way are able to remove automatically the dirt, water or even insects on the glass.Without brushes , this  would result in better aerodynamics and better fuel economy. The technology is used in some military applications ,like warplanes.

2015 McLaren P13 is actually the first model which will potentially benefits of system of this type. The P13 will be known better in October 2014 at the Paris Show.
